Job Description:
The Supply Chain Manager will manage and provide leadership as the Earthmoving end to end value chain strategy and performance manager.
This position is responsible to lead the global supply chain transformation and provide process leadership for inbound and outbound operations network functions as well as ownership and deployment of Earthmoving OPACC Improvement Agendas (OIAs).
This role will provide strategic leadership for supply chain planning, supply chain performance and capability, freight optimization, packaging strategy, inventory management, and logistics nodes supply chain management for the division.
Job Duties:
Direct reports include Supply Chain Planning Managers, Supply Chain Performance Managers, and Supply Chain Process Managers Responsible for end to end value chain strategy for the division.
Provide leadership and direction to plants on the development and implementation of supply chain transformation initiatives to achieve business long-term goals.
Provide leadership and direction to outbound supply chain planning engineering teams developing plans for the NPI programs.
Includes the development and implementation of design for finish to order (FTO), containerization, and merge in transit (MIT).
Lead efforts to improve Operations Network S&OP effectiveness.
Including validation of constraints (supplier and facility capability), financial tradeoffs and product availability targets to ensure value chain readiness and network level optimization.
Lead collaboration with suppliers and multiple facility functions to address and resolve supply availability issues.
Lead efforts to coordinate optimal allocation of constrained supply and inventory at enterprise and Earthmoving level.
Lead efforts with Supply Management and key Interplant suppliers to align and improve material flow and supply commitments to meet business needs.
Provide leadership (sponsorship and governance) for 6 Sigma Rapid Improvement Workshops with suppliers and Caterpillar personnel as required.
Provide leadership and direction to the development, implementation and management of logistics and transportation improvement initiatives for the division.
Includes the development and specification of packaging design and transportation requirements to reduce freight and logistics costs and protect component materials.
Provide leadership and direction to the design and development of transportation and logistics postponement strategies through logistics nodes and product distribution centers to efficiently distribute final product to our customers.
Lead supply chain activities.
Includes logistics node operation, demand and order management, attachment forecasting, material requirements planning, inventory management and order fulfillment.
Manage the work tool order fulfillment process which includes developing and implementing word-class distribution process for increase delivery service levels, optimize inventory and reduce distribution costs.
Lead division efforts to improve inventory turns.
Work with plant supply chain managers, and operation and component facilities to develop and implement initiatives to optimize total BCP inventory levels.
Provide leadership and direction to the development of supply chain processes for the facility to achieve 8-week availability.
Manage the department through subordinate managers, supervisors and professionals.
Provide direction, focus, motivation and encouragement to direct reports.
oResponsible for coaching, developing and mentoring department resources.
oResponsible for all personnel issues and performance evaluation of direct reports, including development, capability building and succession planning.
Lead efforts to improve communications and align logistics, purchasing and manufacturing activities.
Typical internal customers include general managers, product managers, operation managers, business resource managers, and various other contacts in worldwide operations.
This position often confronts complex and or unique issues or problems, which require careful analysis and diagnosis, and original approaches to provide solutions.
This position is accountable of key supply chain performance indicators impacting key division goals in areas of customer service, inventory turns and dollars, material cost, freight cost and period cost.
Background and
Experience:
This position requires a college or university degree, preferably in Supply Chain Management or related discipline.
An MBA or advanced management degree is highly desired.
Requires APICS CPIM or CSCP National Certification.
Must have the ability to translate strategic vision to actionable performance, possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, develop and deploy creative / original solutions to complex problems, have a high level of business acumen, with the ability to lead large-scale enterprise transformation activities for a business division.
Must also have the ability to establish and monitor policies and guidelines, a thorough understanding of company policies and procedures as well as strong product knowledge, knowledge and experience with 6 Sigma, and excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills.
A minimum of fifteen years of supply chain or related experience is typically required and International logistics and traffic/transportation knowledge and experience in purchasing, parts distribution, information technology, operations and / or quality is highly desired.
